it must be a dream...

have you guys ever have something happen to you that made you wonder if it really happened at all? like if you were to just close your eyes real quick and open them again you would find yourself in bed waking up to a bad dream? well, i had one of those about an hour and a half ago... don't worry, it's not all that serious.

bobby came home from class and i went to reheat some spaghetti for lunch. i also decided to chop up some carrot sticks because we've got some ranch dressing that was made up from yesterday and bobby loves carrot sticks with ranch. so i'm chopping, with a chinese cleaver... next thing you know, i'm screaming, "honey, i just cut my finger and i think a chunk of my flesh is missing!" sorry for those of you with weak stomachs. apparently the carrot slipped as i was trying to chop it and the cleaver took off a little chunk of flesh off of my left index finger... pain and blood followed and i wanted to go to the ER. you should know that i've hurt myself many times. i've had many encounters with the blade of exacto knives, kitchen knives, scissors, the heat of boiling water and oil, glue guns, whatever. what i'm trying to say is that small accidents are a normal part of my life and i've always been in control with no fear of blood or pain... but not this time. i was freaking out when i looked at the damage because i was able to see some fatty tissue. the cut was deep. and i was panicking. my sweet boy-scout trained husband did all he could do to calm me down and assured me that everything was gonna be ok. we didn't have any gauze lying around, but he was able to creatively find something sterile to tape on the wound to stop the bleeding, along with three bandages. =) i'm not going to tell you what he used, but it was a brilliant idea. anyway, so now he's out with my tutor to the local drug store to pick up peroxide and gauze and such first aid stuff that we really should have around the house.

what an interesting way to start off a monday...
